Profile

Equens established its independent subsidiary InterEGI (formally known as Interpay Elektronisch Geldinstelling B.V.) in 2003. InterEGI is the first non-banking institution in the Netherlands authorised by the Dutch Central Bank to issue electronic money for a fee. InterEGI issues the Prepaid Chipknip, a variant of the regular electronic purse that is pre-charged with a cash balance.
As of January 1, 2011 are, for reasons of efficiency and synergy, the actual activities involved in the issuance and distribution of the Prepaid Chipknip outsourced to parent company Equens SE.

Currence owns the collective payment products PIN and Chipknip and is the issuer of licences and certificates to market parties and parties joining the market for national payment products, such as Chipknip.
